Admission
Criteria and Referrals
As a specialized residential treatment facility, Turning Point Youth
Center’s staff and treatment modality are specifically equipped to
assist a certain population of youth:
• Males 12-17 years of age upon admission
• Possession of a mental illness with an Axis I diagnosis
• Adjudicated as delinquent
• IQ individually assessed (Full Scale IQ of 50 or above)
• Youths with IQ's between 50-68 are individually assessed for appropriateness
In order to best determine if a youth is appropriate for Turning Point’s treatment milieu, we recommend the following materials be included with any referral request:
• Intellectual, educational, & psychological assessments
• Social history/Dispositional Investigative Report
• Medical history
• Immunization records
• Previous treatment provider progress notes
¯ Referral information may be faxed to (989) 224-7078 or mailed directly to the facility.
An in-person interview may be requested to ensure the appropriateness of
the referral. A referral may be denied if the youth is actively
homicidal, possesses a history of sexual perpetrator behaviors, or is
deemed medically unstable by Turning Point’s staff.
